A l’occasion de Playtime, Tim Etchells présente un nouveau travail nommé « October Events » (les événements du mois d’Octobre), une brochure gratuite annonçant une série d'événements imaginaires et d’interventions situées à Paris et ailleurs. Ayant lieu chaque jour pendant Playtime, le programme virtuel et provocateur d'Etchells invite le public à une série d’échanges étranges, de rencontres improbables et de discussions énigmatiques, qui encouragent le public à se rencontrer et à interagir avec la ville, le quartier, d’une manière nouvelle et inattendue.
Tim Etchells présentera ses projets liés à la performance, l'art visuel et la fiction, explorant particulièrement le langage, l’écriture et la parole.
En tant que directeur artistique de l’influent groupe britannique de performance Forced Entertainment, aussi bien que dans ses projets solos impliquant le néon, la vidéo et l’écriture, Etchells évoque la différence entre le discours et l'écriture, les approches d'improvisation, la « construction du monde », les événements virtuels convoqués par le texte, et la manière dont le texte battis une relation avec ses lecteurs.


Tim Etchells (1962) est artiste et auteur. Il vit au Royaume-Uni. Il a travaillé dans une large variété de contextes, notamment comme leader du groupe de performance Forced Entertainment, formé en 1984 et dont la pratique a eu un impact significatif sur le développement d'un style britannique unique de performance. Le travail de Forced Entertainment est souvent en prise avec les mécaniques de l'action en direct, afin de créer une rupture entre les conventions théâtrales et les attentes qui les accompagnent.
À côté de son travail avec Forced Entertainment, Etchells a collaboré avec large panel d'artistes visuels, de chorégraphes et de photographes. Son travail s'étend de la performance à la vidéo, la photographie, les projets d’écriture, l'installation et la fiction. Son premier roman – The Broken World- a été publié en juillet 2008.
Il est actuellement en Résidence à la Tate Research and LADA. Il présente au théâtre de la Bastille : In Pieces, avec Fumiyo Ikeda, du 13 au 17 octobre et Sight is the Sense that Dying People Tend to Lose first, du 20 au 24 octobre.

For Playtime Tim Etchells presents a new work in the form of ‘October Events’ a free pamphlet which announces a series of imaginary events and interventions for Paris and elsewhere. Taking place each day through the Playtime season Etchells’ provocative virtual programme invites the public to a series of strange talks, improbable meetings and cryptic discussions as well as encouraging them to speak with each other and to interact with the city around them in new, unexpected ways.
Tim Etchells discusses his projects across performance, visual art and fiction, especially exploring his work with language, written and spoken. Drawing on his work as artistic director of the influential UK performance group Forced Entertainment as well as on his solo projects involving neon, video and written text Etchells touches on the difference between speech and writing, on approaches to improvisation, on ‘world building’ and virtual events summoned in text and on the way that texts construct relations with viewers.


Tim Etchells (1962) is an artist and a writer based in the UK. He has worked in a wide variety of contexts, notably as the leader of the performance group Forced Entertainment, formed in 1984 and whose practice has had a significant impact on the development of a unique British-style of contemporary performance. The work of Forced Entertainment is often related to the mechanics of the live act, to create disruption the conventions of theatrical performance and expectations that accompany them.
Alongside his work with Forced Entertainment Etchells has worked in collaboration with a wide range of visual artists, choreographers, and photographers. His work ranges from performance to video, photography, text projects, installation and fiction. His first novel - The Broken World - was published in July 2008.
He is currently Legacy: Thinker in Residence at Tate Research and LADA. He will present, at the Bastille Theater (Paris) : In Pieces, with Fumiyo Ikeda, from 13th to 17th of october and Sight is the Sense that Dying People Tend to Lose first, from 20th to 24th of october.
