Shared Letters est une œuvre de l’artiste allemande Katinka Bock dont la finalité est d’impulser, avec la participation du public, la création d’une bibliothèque permanente pour Bétonsalon. L’artiste a produit cent sculptures, des briques en céramique blanche, qui seront disséminées à partir du 14 septembre. Elles sont vouées à disparaître, selon le vœu de l’artiste, qui néanmoins formule un souhait : que chaque personne désirant prendre et garder une sculpture achète en retour un livre à la librairie spécialisée dans l’art contemporain Section7books pour l'offrir à Bétonsalon et constituer les premiers rayonnages de sa bibliothèque. Pendant la durée du festival Playtime, Section 7 Books propose une sélection d'ouvrages, spécialement définie en collaboration avec Katinka Bock, pour le projet Shared Letters.
Katinka Bock est née en 1976 à Francfort/Main. Elle vit et travaille à Berlin et Paris. Elle est représentée par la galerie Jocelyn Wolff à Paris.

Section 7 Books est la librairie de castillo/corrales, une galerie créée par un groupe d’artistes, critiques et commissaires d’exposition début 2007, dans le 19ème arrondissement de Paris. Section 7 Books a pour ambition de jouer un rôle actif dans l’économie – souvent fragile – de l’édition d’art indépendante, en fonctionnant comme un relais entre un ensemble d’initiatives éditoriales (maisons d’édition, périodiques) élaborées dans différents endroits du monde, et la scène artistique française.
La librairie cherche à représenter au mieux ces différents projets éditoriaux, à l’origine desquelles on retrouve régulièrement des artistes, graphistes, critiques ayant ressenti la nécessité de publier leurs propres ouvrages ou leur propre revue. La sélection des livres proposée à Section 7 Books n’est pas subordonnée à l’actualité des parutions, et elle ne cherche pas à présenter des ouvrages à vocation généraliste ou des revues d’information sur l’art ; davantage, elle met l’accent sur un certain nombre de propositions qui initient ou qui illustrent les changements de perspectives et les questions en débat dans l’art aujourd’hui.

Shared Letters is a work of the german artist Katinka Bock, whose purpose is to stimulate, with public participation, the creation of a permanent library for Bétonsalon. The artist has produced one hundred sculptures, ceramic white bricks, to be spread from september 14th on. They are doomed to disappear, according to the wishes of the artist, who still expresses another will: that each person wishing to take and keep a sculpture, in turn, buys a book at the specialized in contemporary art bookstore, Section7books, to offer Bétonsalon and thus to constitute the first books in its library shelves. During the Playtime festival Section7Books offers a selection of books, specifically defined in collaboration with Katinka Bock, for the project Shared Letters.
Katinka Bock was born in 1976 in Frankfurt / Main. She lives and works in Berlin and Paris. She is represented by Galerie Jocelyn Wolff in Paris.

Section 7 Books is castillo/corrales’ bookshop. It is an attempt to establish in Paris a new infrastructure that plays an active role in the ecology of small-press publishing, introducing a selection of books and journals to our audience in an intimate environment conducive to reading and conversation.
The projects included in S7B are the results of invested endeavours, one- or two- person enterprises most of the time, artists, writers or editors who believe that the experience of looking at and thinking about art is always inextricably tied to reading, discussing, and circulating printed material. Distinctive, particular, local, these projects initiate conversations with their readers and keep those conversations going by consistently producing great writing and intelligent design. They are books that often find an audience one person at a time, passed from hand to hand – not meant to be consumed as information, but to be read.
